Q. How does Personal Fax work?
A. Personal Fax assigns an inbound
(dedicated) fax number to your email address where
faxes can be received and accessed. All faxes sent
to this number arrive in your email inbox as an attachment.
All documents can be opened, printed, stored, sorted,
forwarded or annotated just like any other email message.
Q. How long does it take to get
my Personal Fax number?
A. Once we receive confirmation of
successful payment, we will send an activation email
to your email address. To confirm your registration
and activate your account click on the link provided
in the email and you will be taken to a web page
stating that your account is now active.
Q. If two faxes are sent at the
same time, will one of them get a busy signal?
A. No. Many faxes can be received
simultaneously with our system.
Q. How long does it take to receive
a fax?
A. As soon as a fax is sent to your
Personal Fax number, it is converted into an attachment
and immediately sent to your email account.
Q. How soon can I start using my
Personal Fax after signing up?
A. Your Personal Fax number is
ready for use immediately after you have activated
your account. Follow the link provided to you in the
Activation Email to activate your account and begin
using your Personal Fax.
Q. I already have a fax number;
Can I make this my Personal Fax-to-Email number?
A. Yes. You can keep your existing
published fax number by "call forwarding"
it to your new Personal Fax number. All faxes sent
to your current number will then be forwarded to your
email as attachments.
Q. Can I view a Personal Fax on
my Smart Phone or PDA?
A. Yes. Personal Fax attachments
can be viewed on any device that can display a PDF
or TIFF. The TIFF format is preferred on the Palm
Treo.
Q. What is required to set up a
Personal Fax number?
A. You will not need to purchase
or install any additional hardware, software or telephone
lines. All you need is an active email account.
Q. Can I sign up for more than one
Personal Fax number?
A. Yes. You can sign up for 3
numbers at initial registration. If more numbers are
required you can add them later after you have
registered just by logging in to your account. Once
logged in, go to Account Information and select the
Request a new Fax Number at the bottom of the
screen. In the new window click on the Select button
to choose an additional number.
Q. How do I change the email address
for my Personal Fax account?
A. Log in to your account and go to
the Account Information page. Here you will be able
to edit your email address.
Q. How do I change the billing information for my Personal Fax
account?
A. Log in to your account and go to
the Billing Information page. Here you will be able to
edit your billing information.
Q. What is a TIFF file?
A. TIFF (Tagged Image File Format)
is one of two popular formats used by Personal Fax
to deliver faxes as attachments to email. A TIFF file
is identified by the .tif extension and can be opened
with many programs, including Imaging (the default
Windows TIFF viewer).
Q. What is a PDF file?
A. PDF (Portable Document Format)
is one of two popular formats used by Personal Fax
to deliver faxes as attachments to email. A PDF file
captures all the elements of a printed document as
an electronic image that one can view, navigate, print,
or forward to someone else. PDF files are created
using Adobe Acrobat, Acrobat Capture, or similar products.
To view and use the files, one needs a free Acrobat
Reader.
